On Wednesday, June 4th, the GRETA project participated in the webinar “Goods transport and the urban environment: new services & regulations”, organised by Centre-Ville en Mouvement  as part of the activities of the European Observatory for City Centers.

During the first part of the event, representatives from the  Karlsruhe Institute of TechnologyALSTOMEurometropolis and KHPR spoke about the impact of goods transport on urban environments and the need for innovative solutions to address its negative effects, such as congestion and emissions.

Participants particularly highlighted the importance of integrating new technologies into urban planning and of adopting a European-wide perspective on the topic. The discussion also focused on the need for coordination between passenger and freight mobility.

Representing ITL, Alice Benini, Project Manager of GRETA, introduced the project. Her intervention was followed by presentations from Wiktor Żuchowski of the Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology and Alberto Merigo from the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, who shared their experiences with the microhubs implemented by GRETA.

The in-depth contributions and innovative solutions shared by all speakers made the session especially rich and stimulating, helping to advance the debate on sustainable and efficient urban freight transport, and exploring how urban logistics can be integrated into broader urban planning alongside passenger mobility.
