Integration, resilience, optimization and training were the key words that concluded the morning session held at the headquarters of the Ravenna Port Authority, where the conference “ICT Strategies and Solutions for the Integration of the Port with the Hinterland in the Adriatic-Ionian Region: State of the Art and Future Perspectives” took place, organised within the EU Macro-Regional Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region and included in the 2025 Work Plan of Pillar 2 “Connecting the Region”, supported by the CROSSFREIGHT project.

The initiative provided an opportunity for international dialogue on logistics and transport in the Adriatic-Ionian area, with the goal of defining common strategies to make the logistics chain more efficient and sustainable and to ensure better interoperability between national and local systems.

Particular attention was dedicated to the topic of digitalisation, the focus of Pillar 2 of the EUSAIR strategy, with an in-depth look at the technologies implemented and their potential, especially concerning the Port Community System and the need to develop solutions that foster interoperability among operators and systems, ultimately converging towards projects that “federate” the various existing platforms.

The debate saw the participation of Councillor Irene Priolo and the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Port Authority, Francesco Benevolo, who – together with experts and industry operators – underlined the importance of strengthening transnational cooperation and promoting innovative solutions to increase the competitiveness of the Port of Ravenna and its interconnections with the intermodal hubs of Emilia-Romagna.

It clearly emerged that speaking a common language through the digitalisation of the logistics chain represents a key opportunity to enhance the efficiency of the transport system.
