Description
SUSMILE (Successful Online Learning for Sustainable Last Mile Logistics) aims to develop an advanced course on the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platform, integrating high-quality digital e-learning resources for VET (Vocational Education and Training) providers to train their students online on new, practical, and innovative concepts related to sustainable last-mile logistics.
The period of remote learning during the COVID-19 crisis and the measures adopted highlighted the lack of adequate tools, materials, and resources for training across Europe and for all VET qualifications. The transport and logistics sector is particularly sensitive to the challenges that emerged with the pandemic, especially in last-mile deliveries with the rise of e-commerce.
In this context, the SUSMILE open educational resource will contain the following innovative online resources and tools:
- E-Learning modules to address initial and continuing education, including theory and evaluation materials, to help the user acquire key knowledge in areas such as last mile distribution schemes, warehouse/consolidation centres/picking stations, routing systems, technologies, environmental impact and processes and product care. The module will be completed with an adaptive learning kit to provide varied learning materials for the students and help them understand last mile logistics in a dynamic way, with verbal and interpersonal sessions.
- A serious game in which the player can apply the knowledge acquired through the e-Learning and put the acquired skills into practice through the aerial/isometric visualisation of a city.
The project’s targets include;
- VET providers and educational organisations
- Logistic businesses, clusters and associations
- Private logistics stakeholders
- Education and logistics policy making responsible entities
- Local and regional administrations
- Research community
- General public
