Description
SEE-ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems in South East Europe ) aims to stimulate cooperation, harmonization, and interoperability among Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in South East Europe. The project focuses on the evaluation and implementation of the European Union ITS Directive (2010/40/EU), which aims to establish the framework for the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the road transport sector and their interfaces with other modes of transport.
The project’s goal is to enhance the interoperable use of ITS for traffic monitoring and control across road transport networks at transnational, regional, and local (urban/peri-urban) levels. The project outcomes will support the establishment of a long-term, sustainable strategic and operational framework for the institutional and operational integration of ITS services in South East European countries.
The main areas covered by SEE-ITS are:
- Optimal use of road, traffic, and travel data
- Continuity of ITS services for traffic management and freight transport
- ITS applications for road safety and precautionary measures
- Connectivity between vehicles and transport infrastructure
ITL is responsible for the assessment of demonstrators operation and the finalization of common technical specifications for urban to regional, regional to national and national to international connections.
