Description

MED COLOURS (Mediterranean Collaborative Logistics for the Urban Space), co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED program, aims to enhance urban logistics by developing new Sustainable Urban Logistics Plans (SULPs) for the Mediterranean macro-region. The project seeks to create resilient, sustainable, and integrated solutions for the urban areas involved, reducing the negative impacts of logistics and transport activities to improve citizens’ quality of life and promote environmental well-being.

The project involves six cities in the MED area: Livorno, Cesena, Thessaloniki, Koper, Lisbon, and Lyon. It implements five pilot actions and develops six SULPs tailored to each city’s specific needs. The MED COLOURS partners support the digital and environmental transition in participating cities by leveraging collaborative innovation and cooperating on sustainable planning. These initiatives will then serve as a model for other Mediterranean cities interested in adopting sustainable logistics practices.

As Lead Partner, ITL coordinates all international activities of the project and is responsible for communications and stakeholder relations at the European level. ITL is also responsible for developing the pilot action in Cesena, acting on behalf of the municipality with the support of its political and technical staff. Additionally, because this is a strongly data-driven project, ITL will explore legal issues related to the use of data for urban freight distribution.

Following the successful completion of the testing phase, the Transfer Phase of the project officially began on 1 July 2026 and will run until 31 December 2027. This phase involves 10 partners, including OPEN ENLoCC, CERTH-HIT, Zaragoza Logistics Center Foundation, MemEx Srl, the University of Maribor and Lisboa E-Nova, which were already involved in the testing phase. The Transfer Phase also expands the project network with the participation of the Municipalities of Ferrara, Maribor and Granada.

These partners are joined by 8 Associated Partners: the Municipality of Cesena, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, ALICE, POLIS Network, the Municipality of Koper, Local Public Company Lyon Confluence and the Municipality of Lisbon. The continued involvement of the cities that participated in the testing phase will help facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge between territories, as well as stakeholder engagement, supporting the uptake of the project’s results in other cities across the Mediterranean.
