Description
DISCO (Data-driven, Integrated, Syncromodal, Collaborative and Optimised Urban Freight Meta-model for a New Generation of Urban Logistics and Planning with Data Sharing at European Living Labs) brings together 47 multidisciplinary partners with the goal of developing, demonstrating, and evaluating local measures to improve urban logistics.
DISCO aims to support EU cities in achieving their climate goals by 2030, enabling urban areas to improve air quality by reducing air pollutants. To this end, the project guides cities toward the use of Physical Internet (PI) to balance accessibility to goods and services, quality of life, and environmental sustainability.
DISCO seeks to accelerate and organize available city data to develop smarter logistics and freight transport planning models, proposing solutions that reduce the distance traveled to deliver the same quantity of goods. This is achieved with the help of digital tools and the creation of a Data Model Suite. DISCO’s activities provide digital tools and innovative methods to the participating cities, demonstrating 23 data-driven innovation measures in 8 cities:
- Phase 1: 4 Starring Living Labs (Copenhagen, Ghent, Thessaloniki, and Helsinki)
- Phase 2: 4 Twinning Living Labs (Padua, Barcelona, Valencia, and Zaragoza)
Replicable measures will also be introduced in 4 “Early Adopter” cities (Prague, Piacenza, Aarhus, and Northern Hesse).
The ITL Foundation leads Work Package 4, supporting the four Starring Living Labs in implementing various measures at the local level through the following activities:
- Development of an Agile Model Implementation Roadmap to monitor progress in implementing measures at different stages of the project
- Implementation of measures in the Starring Living Labs and evaluation of their impacts
