Description

CYROS (Adriatic Ionian CYcle ROute for Sustainable Tourism) is a cross-border cooperation initiative aimed at enhancing sustainable intermodal solutions along the cycling route along that runs on the Adriatic coast of Italy and Croatia (Adriatic Cycle Route).

CYROS’s main objective is to define the cycling route along the Italian and Croatian Adriatic coast, including its main connections to the inland network, and to implement physical segments of the cycle route, as well as a series of ancillary enabling services for users. The project aims to integrate different modes of transport, such as train, bus, and boat, with cycling, to promote sustainable tourism and enhance intermodal mobility at both local and transnational levels. Additionally, the project seeks to strengthen cross-border cooperation, improve transport services, and support the EUSAIR (EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region) action plan by implementing the flagship ADRIONCYCLETOUR initiative and contributing to economic development and regional enhancement.

As part of the project, ITL coordinates all activities related to the collection of data on cycling flows and the development of the cycling infrastructure network. It is also conducting a trial along a section of the cycle route in Romagna and coordinating the strategy definition and networking activities among project partners.
