CENTRAL

CENTRAL (Certification for Employment in Transport and Logistics in Europe) aims to bridge the gap between the demand for new skills and competencies in the logistics and transport sector and the current supply of certifications and training programs, which do not always provide a satisfactory response to the needs of workers and training institutions.

To this end, the project aims to:

• Define an inventory of logistics and transport professions in Europe
• Establish common definitions for these professions
• Extend the Novalog project approach to both transport and logistics
• Precisely define the skills required for the most representative professions
• Create a European Certification framework for selected professions
• Develop a training course based on the certification process, which will be linked to the ECVET system of European credits for vocational training

CENTRAL is also updating the Novalog nomenclature for the most representative logistics professions and extending it to key transport professions. The nomenclature is to be converted into a database and shared online. Using the ECVET system, skills will be certified for a range of professions to better meet the training needs of workers and entrepreneurs. European training modules are developed to enhance skills in key professions where training opportunities are lacking, and innovations are then transferred across the logistics and transport sector and to other countries.

ITL is responsible for activities related to the creation of modules and trying out the ECVET system.
