Description

ADRIPASS (Integrating Multimodal Connections in the Adriatic-Ionian Region) addresses the lack of efficient maritime-hinterland connections, mainly caused by the existence of various bottlenecks at border level, which hampers the growth and the economic development of transport sector in ADRION region.

The project analyses physical and non-physical bottlenecks on the Trans European Transport Networks (TEN-T) corridor sections of the ADRION region, with a specific focus on those recently extended to the Western Balkans, where most Border Crossing Points (BCPs) are located. It also tests specific Information and Communication Technology solutions for streamlining freight transport in ADRION ports, setting standards which may be replicated to Electronic Data Interchange interfaces at BCPs.

Through the results of ADRIPASS project, and in particular through the ADRIPASS strategy for the enhancement of multimodal transport efficiency and competitiveness, planning capacities of transport stakeholders (port terminal/logistic operators, freight forwarders, railway companies) and national and European policy-makers (Ministries of Transport, European Commission, TEN-T Corridor coordinators) will significantly be  improved, since all of them are facing the same challenges concerning multimodal transport accessibility and network efficiency on the TEN-T Corridor sections in the ADRION region (from the port to the hinterland).

ITL will showcase the benefits of the Port Community System (PCS) of the port of Ravenna as well as the ICT tools employed by the Bologna freight village (core node of the Scan-Med corridor). Additionally, best practices of other PCS will be presented, inviting representatives from other advanced Port Authorities and inland terminals, from and outside the ADRION region. Studies on hinterland connections will also be shared and studies developed by ITL for the connection to the corridors and identification of main problems and suggestions will be revised.
