The Moses mid-term public event titled “Towards a more sustainable cross-boarder mobility and transport services in the Adriatic basin” took place on 6th of December 2018 in Rijeka, Croatia. The event represented an important opportunity to present to Croatian public authorities the main lessons learned during the planning and implementation activities related to Moses case studies.

The lead partner Friuli-Venezia-Giulia Region showed the preliminary evidences collected in the conduction of its case study related to the activation, during the summer 2018, of a passengers transport service by hydrofoil between Trieste, Rovinj, Pula and Mali Lošinj. The Institute for Transport and Logistics Foundation (ITL) pointed out the first evidences and preliminary results collected during the implementation of its case study related to the activation, during the summer 2018, of an electric bikes renting service for cruise passengers at the Ravenna Port. The Primorje-Gorski Kotar County presented its ongoing pilot related to the restoration of a quay in the Mali Lošinj and Susak ports. The Region of Istria presented its ongoing pilot related to the definition of a pre-feasibility study for the construction of a passenger terminal in the port of Pula.

The second part of the event, moderated by Mr. Angelotti of Friuli-Venezia-Giulia Region, was dedicated to a Round Table on cross-border mobility planning, transport services and tourism involving national, regional and local authorities. The Round Table attendees were the representatives of the Croatian Ministry of Transport, of the Primorsko-Goranska Region and of the Istria Region. All the participants declared the first preliminary results presented are very interesting as they provide evidences on how to improve the sustainable connections between Italy and Croatia. In fact, nowadays there are still too many technical and economic difficulties in promoting sustainable and efficient connections between Italy and Croatia. The Moses project goes in the right direction to overcome some of these problems, providing a wide set of different interventions both soft and hard measures. For these reasons, the national and regional public authorities participating to the round table declared their support to the project and to the implementation and replicability of the case studies developed during the project.
