This week, ITL took part in two insightful events organised by Interreg Europe in Krakow.

On March 18th, Angelica Mazzina and Laura Nubile took part in the Lead Partner Seminar for the newly approved projects’ lead partners from the third call, as Project and Finance managers, respectively, of the upcoming project 03C0791 IN MOBILITY.

The project involves 10 partners from 9 countries committed to sharing knowledge to reduce mobility poverty in urban areas. The seminar gave us the opportunity to fully understand the Interreg Europe Programme’s rules on project implementation.

On March 19th and 20th, Angelica Mazzina was also one of the 450 participants from all across Europe who attended the 11th edition of the Europe, let’s cooperate! Interregional Cooperation Forum, two days centred around the ten-year anniversary of the Policy Learning Platform, a powerful tool for knowledge, collaboration and networking developed by Interreg Europe.

We also had the chance to attend some of the many informative sessions focused on inspiring good practices for policy design, implementation and evaluation:

  • Climate change observatory for informed policy making, in which Antigoni Gkoufa illustrated the impressive work done to develop the Climate Change Observatory of Attica region;
  • Strategic foresight: a policy design method, in which Aleš Hančič shared Slovenia’s experience applying strategic foresight techniques to identify the needed skills for the industrial development of the country;
  • Evidence-based and inclusive decision-making models for mobility, in which Maria Morfoulaki from CERTH, Lead Partner of REFOCUS, presented the good practice on decision support tools for mobility planning in the wider area of Thessaloniki.

Finally, on the last day of the event, we participated in the study visit on Demand Responsive Transport (DRT), where we had the chance to learn all about LajkBus, a DRT service for the less densely populated residential and industrial parts of the city, and LajkBike, Krakow’s (e-)bike leasing service, skilfully accompanied by Krakow Transport Authority’s director Lukasz Franek.

The time in Krakow was a great opportunity to get insights on the #future of interregional cooperation, exchange experiences and ideas within the Interreg Europe community, and gain valuable knowledge to shape greener, smarter and more inclusive transport and mobility projects.
