On June 4th, ITL joined its GRETA project partners at Transport Logistic 2025 in Munich, for an event dedicated to current perspectives on last mile deliveries in functional urban areas (FUAs) with particular attention on the pilot action being implemented in the municipality of Verona.
The session, moderated by Andrea Ballarin, opened with a welcome speech by Alberto Milotti, President of Europlatforms.
Fahad Anwar, Project Manager at ITL, provided an overview of GRETA, outlining its objectives, expected outcomes and the innovative solutions being implemented in the 5 pilot cities.
Ricardo Maratini (OpenENLoCC) then introduced the network’s mission of fostering international exchange of regional experiences and promoting cooperation with European institutions.
Paolo Lunardi (ZAILOG), followed up with a presentation of GRETA’s Verona pilot action, which focuses on the use of smart sensors for curbside management. He discussed the preparatory work, the technical setup of the sensors and their function in helping logistics vehicles locate available loading/unloading areas. He also highlighted logistical and administrative challenges encountered during the pilot’s implementation phase.
Finally, Bernard Piette (Logistics in Wallonia) and Simone Pacciardi (Autorità di Sistema del Mar Ligure Orientale), addressed the specific issues related to last-mile delivery in small and port cities respectively, referring to other EU funded projects in which they are involved
The event served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and reinforced the importance of cross-border cooperation in shaping smarter, more sustainable urban logistics.
