On 16–17 June, ITL attended the ALTHEA General Assembly, hosted in Milan by the Lombardy Region. The meeting provided an opportunity for project partners to discuss progress achieved so far and the upcoming activities supporting the transition towards climate-neutral peri-urban areas.
Particular attention was given to the project’s key activities, including the blueprint for transitions in peri-urban areas, the Transition Super Living Labs (TSLL) Evaluation Framework, and the progress of the 21 innovations currently being implemented across the five TSLLs (Milan, Antwerp–Rotterdam, Lisbon Metropolitan Area, Alicante–Elche, and Epirus–Ioannina). These solutions address key sectors such as mobility, logistics, energy, governance, industrial ecosystems, and environmental sustainability.
Participants also visited the Hupac/CIM intermodal terminal in Novara, strategically located along major European freight transport corridors. The visit demonstrated how technological innovation, logistics, and sustainability strategies can be integrated to support the decarbonisation of the transport sector, while highlighting the role of intermodal transport in reducing freight transport emissions and strengthening supply chain resilience.
The meeting continued with updates on the implementation of the five TSLLs, during which partners shared preliminary results, challenges, and opportunities. Replicator regions also presented the specific needs and priorities of their respective territories.
The General Assembly concluded with a dedicated session bringing together pilot territories and replicator regions to exchange experiences and foster mutual learning. The discussion aimed to support the transfer of knowledge and the adaptation of ALTHEA solutions to areas with different territorial characteristics and needs.
